Our Pre-K program begins at 8:15 A.M. and ends at 12:15 P.M.  Because late arrivals are disruptive to the class program, parents are encouraged to have children at school on time so that they will receive the full benefits of the educational program. Individual class schedules are posted in each classroom. *Pre-K and Preschool students must arrive no later than 9:00 A.M.; please call if you will be in later due to an appointment. Any half day Preschool or Pre-K child that is picked up later than 12:15 P.M., without notice, will be subject to an automatic full day tuition for that day.

We reserve the right to close the day before or after any of the above-mentioned holidays.  Notice will be given in advance for any changes.

Arrival and Pick-up Procedures

All children must be signed in and out daily on the Procare tablet located at the front desk. An unique code is required. Signing in is an important safety precaution and also a state requirement by Childcare Licensing. Children must be walked directly to their classrooms, and cannot be left to walk into the building or to their classrooms unsupervised. Parents will be called to return to the school if a child has not been signed in. No one under the age of 16 years of age may pick-up a child at this facility at any time.  We ask that you refrain from using your cell phone when picking up or dropping off your child.  This is greatly appreciated.

Late Pick-Up Policy and Fees

In the event that your child is picked up after 6:30 P.M., a fee of $5.00 will be charged to your account, per child for the first five minutes.  After the first five minutes we will charge an additional $5.00 per minute.  After ten minutes, we will begin to call the authorized escorts from your list.  If, however, your child(ren) have not been picked up by 7:00 P.M. we will notify the authorities, Child Protective Services, and the City of Henderson Police Department.

Authorized Escorts

The names of all authorized escorts must be on record in the school office. Picture identification must be provided in order for the child to be released. Once the teacher becomes familiar with escorts, identification may no longer be necessary.

If an authorized escort or guardian is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the staff at Lighthouse Academy will refuse the release of the child, and will if necessary notify the authorities immediately.

Custody Orders

Certified custody orders must be provided to the director any time a limitation is put on a parent or legal guardian of a child.

Napping/ Quiet Time

Every child enrolled for more than five hours must have a nap and/or a quiet period daily.  The nap/quiet period begins at approximately 11:30 A.M. in the infant toddler programs and at 12:30 P.M. in the two-year old and preschool programs.  The scheduled times begin after the children have finished eating lunch.  Each child will be provided either a crib or a cot.  Each child will need a crib sheet to cover the napping cots, the sheets are taken home at the end of each week and returned clean at the start of the following week.  You may supply your child with a special belonging from home for comfort with your child’s name indicated on each item.  This item or items will be kept in your child’s individual cubby and must be taken home at the end of the enrolled week.  It is our policy that your child not be dropped off during their scheduled naptime.

Birthdays

A child’s birthday is a very special day at school. We wish to recognize and celebrate all birthdays.  If you wish to bring in store bought treats, please make arrangements with your child’s teacher.  Additionally, we have begun a new practice where birthday children wishing to do so, may donate a book to their classroom.  Written inside each donated book will be the child’s first name and birth date.  Books donated will be read to the class and become part of that class’s library.

Dress and Appearance Standard

We encourage you as parents to dress your child in washable play clothes that are both comfortable and manageable.  Pajamas will not be permitted except for special day celebrations.  Many day-to-day lessons and or activities may involve water, glue, sand, paint, markers, dirt, etc. We are not responsible for any damage done to clothing items.  We also recommend your child wear safe and sturdy shoes that are comfortable and fit well.  Open-toed shoes such as sandals and hard-heeled shoes such as boots are not permitted due to safety regulations.  Please remember that we want to honor God in all things, to include the way we dress.  Our standards are at least the minimum Clark County School District standards.

Please supply a complete set of extra clothing, season appropriate, for your child to change into in case of an unforeseen accident.  The clothing will need to be placed in a large zip lock bag with your child’s name clearly printed on the outside of the bag and on each item inside the bag.  We also recommend all clothing that is often removed due to seasonal changes such as coats, sweaters, scarves, or sweatshirts be labeled with your child’s name so that no items are lost.

Toys and Personal Belongings

Toys are not allowed at school, unless it is your child’s regularly scheduled show-and-tell day. Our facility will not be responsible for lost or broken items. If a child brings a toy to school on any day other than show-and-tell day, the toy will be removed from the classroom and be kept in their cubby until the parent picks up the child.

Candy and Soda

Candy and soda are not allowed at school for treats or in lunches. Mosaic Kids Academy is committed to promoting and serving foods that are nutritious, appealing, and supportive of your child’s growth and development.  We feel that every daily activity is an opportunity for a child to learn.  Snack and lunch times are no different.  We encourage your child to develop healthy food habits and help them understand the importance of a well-balanced and nutritious diet.  We will also help your child learn valuable table manners and cleanup practices.

Child Abuse

It is Nevada State Law and the moral responsibility of the Director and the entire staff to report any signs of verbal, physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse. Signs of abuse will be documented and reported to the Child Abuse Hot Line at 702-399-0081. Children will not be released to any adult who shows signs of alcohol or drug intoxication.

Smoking/ Tobacco Use Policy

Smoking or the use of any tobacco products is strictly prohibited inside the center or anywhere on the entire premises at all times. No exceptions will be permitted.

CPR/First Aid

All staff members are required by the State to attend training classes in CPR, First Aid, and recognition of communicable diseases.

Insurance

Nevada state law requires all facilities involved in the care and education of children to carry liability insurance. However, it is not a requirement to carry medical or health insurance on the children attending the facility. Lighthouse Academy carries liability insurance only. Most accidents occur as a result of children being children; playing, running, testing their abilities and interactive skills. Any injury occurring to your child while attending school will be the responsibility of the parent’s health or medical insurance.
